This is due to the earthiness and dry woodiness that appear mature and somewhat serious. It is, however, one of those fragrances that’s on the verge of the wearer having to be able to carrry it.
It’s not offending like some of the past’s powerhouses nor is it a ”beast mode” scent. Terre may appear polarizing and it is to a degree. The notes melt into each other, creating a olfactory texture rather than a scent. This then morphs into a dry woody vetiver drydown that can be both warming or somewhat cold earthy depending on which facet you happen to catch. The Eau fraiche flanker takes this theme further whereas the EDT quickly reveals its earthy, dry and slightly spicy facet with flintstone, vetiver and pepper. The scent starts out with an initial blast of bright citrus that’s present for a fleeting moment. Reminds me of hot and dry days in southern Europe when you can literally smell the heath as the sun ”toasts” the earth and this results in a evaporation of compounds into the atmosphere. There’s a distinctive take on orange that makes this one stand out.

- THE TRICKY START: At the beginning of wearing, several months ago, my nose was picking that dirty bitter orange, perhaps because I was influenced by some of the exaggerated reviews.- The difficulty I have experienced, is not related to opening or waiting the magic moment in the dry down, or understanding the philosophy behind creating the scent, simply it’s about picking the real vibe of this one, as if was walking like crab, so hard to predict its destination.- It was very difficult for me to judge this deceptive fragrance that took me so long to reach a final real impression, that I don't think will change my real impression about this fragrance.- I am not happy to express my disappointment of falling from the top of high expectations.
